This course is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practice. The course will focus on the use of Web 2.0 tools and their application in the classroom environment. Participants will gain an understanding of project-based teaching principles in a Web 2.0 context and will be able to develop their own projects using these tools.

By the end of the course, participants will have a strong understanding of internet ethics and security and will have the skills required to create their own website. They will be able to develop communication skills with people from different cultures and use foreign languages more effectively. This course is ideal for educators who want to enhance their teaching practice and provide students with an engaging and technology-driven learning experience.

Day 1:

  • Presentation on the values of the European Union
  • Information about the city and the course program
  • Expectations from the group and determining the requirements
  • Coeducation with technological tools: definitions, advantages, and current trends
  • Types of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Information about Web 2.0 tools
  • Discussion: How to structure digital lessons?

Day 2:

  • Presentation on information research for the course with Google tools (Drive, Keep) and Evernote
  • Teaching tools compatible with Google apps
  • Cloud-based classroom environment: Introduction to the Google Classroom
  • Discussion: What do students expect from us?
  • Workshop: Getting started with Google Classroom

Day 3:

  • Digital communication methods: forums, chats, surveys
  • Types and sources of digital events
  • Workshop: Blogging in Blogger
  • Workshop: Tools for developing learning materials: Picasa (Photo Editor), PicCollage, PhotoGrid (collage), Skitch (a tool integrated with Evernote)
  • Discussion: Integrating digital communication methods in teaching

Day 4:

  • Workshop: Creating an electronic book by using the BookBuilder tool
  • Creating a presentation by using the Google Slides tool
  • Presentation on research course content by using YouTube, Khan Academy, and TedEd
  • Copyright and external source research
  • Presentation on how to use video editing programs: Show Me, VideoPad, and iMovie
  • Discussion: Effective ways to incorporate multimedia in teaching

Day 5:

  • Workshop: Creating a video tutorial by using Screen Cast
  • Workshop: Enriching educational videos by using EdPuzzle
  • Introduction to Prezi (creating a presentation), Toondoo (creating comics) and ZunalWebQuest (creating a Webquest)
  • Workshop: Prezi, Toondoo, and Zunalwebquest and their usage in teaching
  • Group Discussion: Strategies for engaging parents in the classroom

Day 6:

  • Presentation and Exercise: Introduction to Kubbu (exam/exam preparation), Word Cloud (Creating a Wordcloud) and Digital Poster (creating multimedia posters)
  • Workshop: Kubbu, Word Cloud, and Digital Poster and their usage in teaching
  • Group Discussion: Practical ways to implement Web 2.0 tools in teaching
  • Feedback: Course Evaluation
